Cicely Knowles
F, #591, Deceased, b. 1632, d. 1 February 1703
Tree
Biography
Cicely was born about 1637. Some sources believe that she was the sister of Captain John Knowles and Mary Knowles Benton of 'Longfield. Some items that point to this relationship are that Cicely's second husband, Henry Sherman, was chosen as "loving friend" to Captain Knowles daughter Bethena (indicating an in law not a blood relation) -- although there was an ongoing dispute betwen the two families. .
Cicely first married Isaac Hutchins, who came under the sponsoirship of Captain Thomas Osborne.Once here, Isaac prospered.
Cicely remarried soon after her first husbands death. Cicely's second husband was Henry Sherman. He was probably about 26 when they married. It is believed that Henry died in October 1695, leaving Cicely a widow. We have no record that she married a third time.
Cicely was a widow for about 8 years. She died in Henrico County, Vierginia in February 1704. She wrote her will in August 1703. In it she left land to her daughters Elizabeth and Ann and to her grand daughters, Ann and Cicely Branch and Rebecca and Susannah Trent.
Information from "The Family History of John W. Pritchett", "Henrico County Minute Book 1710 - 1714. Compiled by G. Lewis, February 2011.

Thomas Osborne
M, #597, Deceased, d. 1692
Tree
Biography
He is probably the first Osborne to arrive in America and is probably of the Sir Edward Osborne family of London, but no proof yet exists. The first reference to Lt. Thomas Osborne is his arrival in Virginia in November 1619 on the ship Bona Nova. He was 35, making his birth year about 1584 in England. He came to Virginia as part of a group sent by the London Company to set up a College at Henrico for the purpose of educating the Indians and others. After leading a counterattack on the Indians after the 1622 raid, he was promoted to Captain and is mostly known as Captain Thomas Osborne of Henrico, VA. He patented land on the James River just north of Henricus, VA, which became known as Coxendale, where his family lived for five generations before beginning their migration south into NC and SC. There is still a Coxendale Road in Chester, VA which leads to the general vicinity of the old Coxendale plantation. There are many known living descendants of Captain Thomas Osborne, identified by both documented records and dna tests. (By Tom Osborne)

Thomas Branch (Braunche)
M, #598, Deceased, b. about 1557, d. 2 February 1603
Tree
Biography
Martha BRANCH, daughter of William and Katherine JENNINGS BRANCH, married Robert PAYNE, born about 1570 "of Abingdon, Berkshire" (Abingdon was in Berkshire prior to the 1974 county restructuring and now lies in Oxfordshire), died 3 May 1628.
Upon Robert's marriage to Martha BRANCH, her brother, Thomas, deeded the BULL INN, Bell Street, Henley-on-Thames, Abingdon, to Robert [Payne, Martha's husband]. Robert passed the BULL INN to his son, Richard PAYNE, who is listed as its proprietor in 1624.
Charles Branch, who had emigrated to Virginia, returned to England to contest the transfer and acquire ownership. However he was unsuccessful and returned to Virginia.
The Bull has been a pub since 1564, and was leased by Brakspear in 1774, then bought in 1881. It was a coaching inn from 1744 to 1850 for those traveling between London and Walling ford.

Elizabeth Judith Townes, Possible
F, #599, Deceased, b. 1704
Tree
Biography
Her parents, James Townes and Ann Pride were early Townes immigrants to Virginia. They had a son William who has been confused in some geneologies with the William who was a great grandfather of Peyton Townes and sblings. While they may have been related, it has been determined that they are two seperate branches of the overall Townes family.
However, James and Ann are possibly -- but not certainly -- great grandparents of Peyton Townes through James daughter Elizabeth Lockett to the Moseley family to Branch to Giles line. The potential link is Mary Lockett. Some records have her marrying Arthur Moseley. Others however say that is not the same Mary descended from James Townes and may have been a Mary Gibson instead. This has not been resolved.
