Biography

The DeRosset family descended from French Huguenot Armand John DeRosset, who immigrated to the American colonies in the 1730s and settled in Wilmington, N.C., where four generations of DeRossets worked as physicians and merchants.

From Sketches of Church History in North Carolina 1892 by Wm. L. De Rosset, Jr. pg 143: "On the revocation of the Edict of Nante, Captain Louis De Rosset, a man of rank in the South of France gave up his fair home for conscience sake and took refuge in England. A commission as Captain in the British Army was given him. He left one son, Dr. Armand John De Rosset, who took his degree at the University of Basle. Dr. De Rosset removed to Wilmington in North Carolina with two sons."

Margaret was born in Norfolk, VA on September 12,1946. She was a 1964 graduate of Cave Spring High School and a 1967 graduate of Radford University. She married Charles Walker on April 22,1967 in Roanoke. They lived in many states but primarily resided in North Ridgeville, OH and Roanoke, VA.

She started her career as a high school English teacher and later worked in medical records at Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, In Ohio, she was an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Westlake for 20 years. Margaret and Charles retired and moved back to Roanoke in 1997. After retirement, she regularly volunteered at the Blue Ridge Women's Center in Roanoke and actively served at Grace Church in Roanoke. Throughout her life she enjoyed tennis and traveling. She was also an avid gardener and bird watche. In 2013, Margaret and Charles moved to Houston to be closer to family.
