Biography

Gideon Macon married Rebecca Walker, who was a grandaughter of William Townes. They were the great grandparents of Elizabeth M. Giles, who was the wife of William's grandson Armistead Townes and mother of Adolphus Townes and grandmother of Peyton Townes.

His parents and ancestry are not clear. There were several Macons, including Gideons, in Virginia -- including one who moved to North Carolina. However a specific parental connection to this particular Gideon Macon has not been discovered.

Biography

His parentage needs to be clarified. There is a marriage contract in which Edmond Walker and Gideon Macon put up bonds to secure the marriage of Gicdeon Walker and Rebecca Walker. If both Gideon and Edward were parents of the couple then it would make this the father of the groom Gideon, who would be Gideon III. However, it is possible the groom put up his own security.
