Cicely (also spelled Siseley and other variations) was a colorful presence in the difficult early days of Virginia settlement. She was a stroing woman who emigrated from England to Jamestowne Virginia alone in 1610 as a very young girl. She is sometimes referred to as Cicely Reynolds although her parentage is unclear. She was married several times and survived all her husbands. Her full married name was Cecily Bailey Farrar Jordan Montague Parker.

Through the Montague line, she was the 3rd Great Grandmother of George Washington.

Her first husband was a Mr, (Thomas) Bailey,who was the father of Temperance Bailey. He died soon after the burth of Temperance, and left his daughter a large tract of land at age three.

She has been referred to as the first Southrn Belle because of her attractiveness and personality. Among her other adventures Cicely was taken to coufrt unsucessfuilly by a minister because she frefused to marry him.

With her huisband Samuel Jordan, she lived at Jordan's Journey plantation that wasa palisaded fort that enclosed 11 buildings. they survived a massive Powhatan Indian attack of March 1622.

Biography

Mr. Bailey (probably Thomas) was the first husband of Cicely Reynolds,a prominent early immigrant to Jamestown. Little is known about him, but he was apparently prosperous. He died young and left his three year old daughter Temperance Bailey a large tract of land in his will.
